Hi, I’m Sharon. I’m a parenting coach. I help parents build closer relationships with their kids and find more ease in everyday family life.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before we meet. We’ll start wherever you are.

WHAT WE WORK ON

More connection.
Less conflict.

You care about your children and the relationship you’re building. You deserve support with it, too.

Maybe bedtime, homework or screens keep turning into arguments. There may be sibling tension or a change in family life. Your child might be struggling with friendships or feeling left out, and you’re unsure how to help. Or you may simply miss feeling close and enjoying time together.

You can talk about the moments you wish had gone differently. I’ll listen without judgment, ask honest questions, and help you find a way forward that fits your family.

Your children are at the heart of our work, but our sessions are just for the grown-ups. This is your time to feel supported and talk freely.

Come on your own

You’re welcome to come on your own, whether you’re parenting solo or sharing the responsibility. We’ll focus on the changes you can make in your relationship with your child.

Come with your parenting partner

You can love the same child and see things very differently. We’ll work through where you get stuck and find an approach you both feel good about.

What happens in a session

Every family is different, so our sessions follow what you need. We may focus on one difficult moment or spend time untangling a pattern. Here’s what that can look like.

  1. 01

    Tell me what happened.

Tell me as much as you’re comfortable sharing. I’ll listen, ask questions, and help you notice what may be keeping things difficult.

  2. 02

    Find something you can use.

We might practice a conversation, adjust an expectation, or work on holding a limit with care. You’ll leave with one or two things to try at home.

  3. 03

    Build on what helps.

As we work together, you’ll tell me what helped and what was still hard. We’ll adjust along the way, so you gain skills and confidence you can keep using.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Understand your child.
Understand yourself.

01

Listen to what behavior is telling us.

A child’s behavior can point to a need or a skill they’re still developing. Understanding that helps us find a way to guide them.

02

Notice the patterns in your family.

Families can get caught in familiar ways of reacting to one another. Seeing those patterns, including differences between parenting partners, helps us find room for change.

03

Make room for your experience, too.

Your history, hopes, and worries come into parenting with you. We can make sense of what comes up, including how hard it can be to watch your child struggle.

04

Help them grow without losing their spark.

We help children grow into healthy, capable adults who bring their unique gifts to the world. Loving limits are part of that guidance, whether we’re putting a phone away, limiting an activity, or stepping in when they use hurtful language toward others. We stay connected and adjust as they grow.

A little about me.

What I love about this work is helping parents understand their kids in a new way and find more room to enjoy being together.

EXPERIENCE I BRING

Over 20 years working with children, teens, parents and educators.

  • Master of Social Work and BS in Family Studies, summa cum laude, University of Maryland
  • Certified Conscious Parenting Coach™
  • Former Director of the Teen Center at the 92nd Street Y
  • Certified Trainer in the Ramapo for Children approach

We bring our best intentions.

Then it’s 7:42 on a school morning.

I’m a mom of three very different children, and I’ve been parenting for almost 18 years. Each has needed something different from me. I’ve had to apologize and rethink things I once felt sure about. I know how hard it can be to do what you know is helpful when it’s your own child and you’re exhausted.

I also know the joy of feeling close to your kids and having them share their world with you.

When we work together, I want to understand what matters to your family. I’ll help you notice patterns that are hard to see from inside them and talk honestly about what may need to change.

A FEW QUESTIONS

Before we
begin.

How many sessions will I need?

There’s no set number. Sometimes one session is enough; sometimes we work together for months, a year, or longer. We’ll decide where to begin and keep checking what’s helping and what support you need.

How is coaching different from therapy?

In coaching, we work on parenting situations and how you respond to your child at home. I do not provide therapy through this practice. If it seems that you or your child could benefit from support beyond coaching, we can talk together about what that might look like. Coaching can work alongside therapy.

Let’s talk.
